This project aims to build a platform that records, preserves, and shares an intangible asset that fades with time: scent — through both chemical and sensory analysis. It focuses in particular on Japanese food culture, scientifically archiving “scent memories” rooted in local culture, such as seasonal fragrances and the smells of home cooking specific to each family. The extracted aroma compounds are further turned into powder or solid form and offered as a food-experience installation, under the concept of “Edible Archive” — eating the heritage. By fusing smell and taste, the project proposes a new form of cultural inheritance through food.
