Could generative AI render our many different views of a city or region as something fluid, like liquid?
Using additional training on generative AI, this project extracts a region's distinctive landscape characteristics, using the generated images as a starting point for citizen workshops and discussions on local planning. Launched in 2023, in the early days of generative AI, Project NESS has expanded its activities to Kyojima, Akabane, Shibuya, Nakano, and Ayase, continuing to explore, together with AI, that hard-to-put-into-words quality of “what makes this town feel like itself.”
